Leptomeningeal cysts diagnosed by isotope cisternography.

چکیده
The diagnosis of leptomeningeal cysts by isotope cisternography is described in four cases. The cysts are visualized as abnormal local collections of the radiopharmaceutical, best demonstrated 48 hours after lumbar injection. The investigation makes it possible to diagnose the cyst at an early stage, before severe clinical symptoms and changes in the bones of the skull develop. Cases of leptomeningeal cysts in various areas of the brain are described.

Hyperprolactinemia: an unusual manifestation of suprasellar cystic lesions.
Two patients with suprasellar cysts and hyperprolactinemia are described. These lesions were diagnosed by CT metrizamide cisternography. Suprasellar cysts are a rare cause of pathologic hyperprolactinemia, which most commonly results from pituitary adenomas. Tissue diagnosis revealed suprasellar arachnoid cysts in the first patient and Rathke's cleft cyst in the second. The differential diagnos...
متن کاملThe value of metrizamide CT cisternography in the management of cerebral arachnoid cysts.
Arachnoid cysts may or may not communicate with the cerebrospinal fluid pathways. Patterns of communication were studied in six patients, using metrizamide computed tomography (CT) cisternography, ventriculography, and cystography. Two types of cysts were found: one with free communication with the cerebrospinal fluid pathways and one with restricted communication. This information can be usefu...
متن کاملCSF flow studies of intracranial cysts and cyst-like lesions achieved using reversed fast imaging with steady-state precession MR sequences.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Differentiating between intracranial cysts or cyst-like structures and communicating or noncommunicating cysts is often not possible with cranial CT or nonfunctional MR imaging. We evaluated a retrospective ECG-gated fast imaging with steady-state precession (PSIF) MR sequence with optional cine mode to differentiate cystic masses from enlarged CSF spaces and to determine...
متن کاملLeptomeningeal carcinomatosis in non-small-cell lung cancer: initial response to erlotinib followed by relapse despite continuing radiological resolution of disease
A 60-year-old male was diagnosed with T3, N3, M1b epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutant lung adenocarcinoma. Five months later he developed significant headaches, weakness and numbness of the left leg, and unsteadiness of gait. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) brain demonstrated subtle gyral enhancement indicative of early leptomeningeal infiltration. He was commenced on second-line er...
متن کاملPrimary Diffuse Leptomeningeal Gliosarcomatosis
Primary diffuse leptomeningeal gliomatosis (PDLG) is a rare condition with a fatal outcome, characterized by diffuse infiltration of the leptomeninges by neoplastic glial cells without evidence of primary tumor in the brain or spinal cord parenchyma. In particular, PDLG histologically diagnosed as gliosarcoma is extremely rare, with only 2 cases reported to date. We report a case of primary dif...
